Designed for Use. Built for Generations.

At J.L. Schroeder Woodworking, we design and build custom tables that are made specifically for the space, the way they’ll be used, and the materials that best support both. Every table is built to order—never pulled from a template or repeated as a standard product.

Our work includes dining tables, conference tables, work tables, and occasional pieces, all fabricated with an emphasis on structure, proportion, and long-term durability.

Thoughtfully Designed Tables, Built to Last

Let’s talk

Custom Rangehood

What We Build

We fabricate custom tables for residential and commercial environments, including:

  • Dining tables

  • Conference and boardroom tables

  • Worktables and studio tables

  • Coffee, side, and console tables

  • Large-format and long-span tables

  • Indoor and covered outdoor applications

Each table is designed in response to its environment, accounting for circulation, seating, scale, and material performance.

Material-First Design

We begin every project with materials. Wood selection, grain orientation, thickness, and joinery are considered together to ensure stability and longevity—not just appearance.

Common materials include:

  • Solid hardwoods such as walnut, oak, alder, and mahogany

  • Book-matched or slip-matched slabs

  • Veneered panels for large-format surfaces

  • Steel, bronze, or integrated structural bases

  • Natural and architectural finishes selected for durability

Material movement, load, and wear are addressed at the design stage to ensure the table performs over decades of use.

Structure & Joinery

Tables are functional objects subjected to constant use. We engineer every piece with attention to:

  • Structural rigidity and long spans

  • Joinery appropriate to scale and material

  • Expansion and contraction of solid wood

  • Base design that supports both load and leg clearance

Details are resolved to remain visually quiet while providing long-term stability.

Collaboration & Process

We work closely with designers, architects, and homeowners, often engaging early in the design process to align on intent and execution. Our process may include:

  • Reviewing drawings and concepts

  • Advising on proportions, edge profiles, and thickness

  • Developing material and finish samples

  • Coordinating base fabrication and installation logistics

  • Delivering and installing finished pieces with care

Early collaboration allows design decisions to remain intact through fabrication and installation.

We operate with limited annual capacity to maintain a high level of craftsmanship and attention. Each table receives focused time from design through final installation.
